Ryan Jolley for Mayor

Moving Gahanna Forward

I am running for Mayor to provide the strong leadership our city needs - focused on moving Gahanna forward, not backward.

I grew up in Gahanna, and I love our community. That's why I've worked so hard to ensure that the next generation has the same incredible opportunities that I had, first as a School Board member, then on City Council, and now as your candidate for Mayor.

Gahanna is a model community, nestled in a prime location among major transportation hubs, tourist attractions, and natural beauty. Not only should we be an exporter of great ideas, but an importer of talented, hard-working, community-oriented residents, employees, and businesses.

For too long the city has been reactive, not taking the proactive steps necessary to prepare Gahanna for long-term success. It's not enough to plan for the next four years; we need to plan for the next thirty-four years. I am not afraid to make the tough decisions necessary to balance our wants and our needs, to balance our safety and our freedom, and to balance our budget for the long run.

My vision for our great city establishes clear goals for us to achieve, together. No longer will we struggle to piece together our city-wide jigsaw puzzle without having a picture of what we're trying to do. We will be focused, efficient, and effective, delivering the services citizens expect, like excellent snow removal, and the amenities residents desire, like enjoyable parks and pools.

I am always amazed at how wonderful our community is, and I am incredibly excited about how exceptional we can be.

I hope you'll join our movement for new leadership so that together we can continue moving Gahanna forward.

    About Ryan Jolley

Ryan Jolley’s mother taught him the importance of service from an early age. He put her words into action in 2001 when he was elected to the Gahanna-Jefferson Board of Education at the age of 18, just five months after graduating from Gahanna’s Lincoln High School.

Over the past 13 years, Ryan has both broadened and deepened his interest and involvement in public service, working in the Ohio Senate, serving on the boards of several non-profit organizations, and working on multiple candidate and issue campaigns. In 2011, Ryan was elected to City Council to serve city-wide.

Ryan learned the value of hard work throughout 10 summers carrying golf clubs at Winding Hollow Country Club. His caddying earned him a full scholarship to The Ohio State University as an Evans Scholars Fraternity member.

Upon graduating from Ohio State in 2005, Ryan joined Teach For America, one of the most selective post-graduate programs in the country. Ryan spent the next two years teaching math and science at a public middle school in New York City, just north of Harlem.

Since leaving the classroom, Ryan has worked in private sector management. He currently oversees a workforce of more than 200 employees at a production plant on the west side of Columbus.

Ryan serves Gahanna as a member of City Council, representing the entire city at-large. He sits on Council’s Finance Committee, Service and Safety Committee, and on the Gahanna Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Board of Directors.

Ryan earned an M.B.A. from Franklin University, an M.S.T. in Adolescent Education from Pace University, a B.A. in Political Science from Ohio State, and a B.S.B.A. in Economics from OSU’s Fisher College of Business.

Ryan and Mallory own a home on the west side of Gahanna. They live with their 6-year-old Italian Greyhound, Bella, their 7-year-old Miniature Pinscher, Cinnamon, and their 3-year-old cat, Cordelia. Ryan is an avid cyclist, and is currently training for the 100-mile Campagnolo Gran Fondo in New York.
